Please Think.
Inheritance is most often discussed as what is gained by one when another’s life is over; land, art, money, or even a business, and heritage is what was before and either embraced and lived out or complexly rejected by a future generation. A bequest or donation is an example of what someone leaves to a university or a non-profit organization.
Legacy is defined as something handed down; passed on to another, and only to another; you cannot keep legacy to yourself. Whatever your legacy was not yours – it is what you leave behind, but does not require the death of another.
Legacy is about investment of others and awareness of yourself. Every day of your life, you have people watching you, listening to you, waiting and wondering what you will do and say next. Parents of small children are well aware of this when what they have said is repeated back to them, where in reality – all people do this – it is just shocking when a toddler says a word beyond their years. Legacy is about providing an example – living in a way that brings the best out in others. Please think about…
“Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute…” (Philippians 4:8 NASB)
Because…
Summing it all up, friends… [work to fill] your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. (Philippians 4:8 The Message)
…your legacy is the most valuable thing there is in life….
yet you are never able to own legacy only share yours with another.
